I was so excited to read it to our preschool class, and it did not disappoint. They loved absolutely everything about it from the beautiful illustrations to the storyline. It sparked lots of discussions around Australian Natives and Native Animals. They loved seeing how the Banksia flower is able to nourish all the different wildlife. He learns that many native birds, possums and insects rely on this tree for survival. We get a number of lorikeets and cockatoos in our neighbourhood and my eldest was excited to see these familiar birds in the book. The story ends with Franki planting a Banksia Tree in his own garden for the animals.
